LADIES INVITATIONAL FLAG DAY
The Ladies' Invitational Flag competition was held on Sunday 18th September 2011, and although the game was only played over 9 holes this year, a good time was had by all, especially as the weather conditions gave the players one of the best and sunniest days in September! The event was linked with the Breast Cancer Campaign, and the ladies this year surpassed themselves by raising the fantastic sum of more than £1,300 for a very worthwhile cause. The pink raffle table was very impressive and attracted a lot of custom; extremely generous bids were made for the items auctioned so temptingly by Ian Hayes, and there was a great response to the pink-related items for sale, especially the fabulous cup-cakes and tablet! The Flag game itself had a fairly competitive edge to it ..... in amongst the pink-themed nonsense and the banter! Winners on the day were Moira Duncan and Logan Young, with Mattie Hanlon and Ian MacNaughton in second place, and Margie Carmichael and Billy Stewart a close third. New trophies have been donated this year for the players at the other end of the spectrum ... and these now will "grace" the homes of Lesley Leech and Billy O'Donnell. The ladies of the Section would like to thank all those who supported them on the day and donated so generously.
GOUROCK MIXED OPEN GREENSOME 2011
Forty five couples from fourteen clubs competed for the trophy in what turned out to be favourable weather. Gourock couple Gregor and Carol Alexander returned a winning score of 69.2. The scratch prizes were lifted by M and M Duncan also of Gourock with an 83.

23/07/11 - Mixed Social Golf Winners July 2011
Another entertaining evening was had at the Mixed Social 9-hole competition held on Saturday 23rd July 2011. Once again, the weather was simply brilliant, sunny and warm, with a little breeze which kept the midges at bay! 28 players had signed up to play, and were blended in the usual fashion, with a good mix of some strong players and others keen to learn how it is done! The teams all performed well, and the scores were close. However, Gordon Boswell and his team of Anne Fawbert, Rab Gowans and Cathie Campbell, took the first prizes, with their joint "Scramble" score of 28.5. The score card showed 7 pars and 2 birdies. Good shooting! In 2nd place was Logan Young's team with Margie Carmichael, Ian Campbell and Eileen Gowans, whose score was only 0.5 different. Trailing behind, but delighted to be the winners of the packets of Jelly Babies, were David Burnie, Mhairi MacGregor, Morag Cowe and Mairi Hayes. The next Mixed Social competition is scheduled for Sunday 21st August at 3pm. Sign-up sheets are attached to the usual notice boards. All ladies and gents are welcome to join in the fun!

11/04/11 - Ladies Invitational ScrambleThe Ladies' Invitational Scramble was held on the afternoon of Sunday 10th April. It is always a good game to start off the golfing season, with its relaxed format of play. Forty players took part, and a good day was had by all, whether the teams were made up of friends meeting up after the long winter break, or with new members having the opportunity to make new friends! The afternoon was warm and sunny, and the breeze which developed as the afternoon wore on, simply made the golf more interesting!
1st Prize went to Alison Marshall, Cathie Campbell, Callum Watson & Elio Amadei with a stalwart 66.
2 nd Prize went to Norma Ramsay, Netta Sneddon, Jim Craig and Ewan Macgregor with their 68.
3rd equal were Margie Carmichael, Carolyn Craig, Allan Warwick and Roddy Boyle.
Susan and Harry Mooney and Linda and John McLaughlin, were the definite contenders for the "booby" prize, having had a very adventurous round of golf!
